  • How long with NM? Kevin joined Northwestern Mutual in 2012 through the New Jersey/New York apprenticeship program and has been with the firm for 13 years.
  • Prior Experience? Followed his passion to the University of West Virginia, where he earned a B.S. in Finance. He quickly became a top performer early in his career and, in 2014, relocated to Charlotte to build a premier financial planning team.
  • Passionate About? Traveling with his wife and two kids.

 

Austin Matz – Growth Development Director:

  • How long with NM? Austin began his career through Northwestern Mutual’s college internship program and has been with the firm for 6 years.
  • Prior Experience? A Certified Financial Planner originally from Pittsburgh, PA, Austin now serves as a Growth Development Director within the Southpark office, leading a team of four.
  • Passionate About? Golf, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

 

Jorge Santana – Director of Training and Development:

  • How long with NM? Jorge joined Northwestern Mutual following a 23-year career in the United States Marine Corps.
  • Prior Experience? Retired as a Master Gunnery Sergeant and is a passionate advocate for veterans, mentoring transitioning service members into successful civilian careers.
  • Passionate About? Supporting veterans, and spending time with his wife and two children.

 

Peter Hofinga – Executive Director of Recruitment:

  • How long with NM? Peter brings over 13 years of leadership experience as a Marine Corps Reserve Officer to his role at Northwestern Mutual.
  • Prior Experience? Actively serves in the Marine Corps Reserve and volunteers as a mentor for multiple organizations that support veterans transitioning to civilian employment.
  • Passionate About? Captaining an adult soccer team, competing in Spartan Races, and coaching his three daughters’ soccer teams.

 

Tyler Clary – Financial Advisor:

  • How long with NM? Started with Northwestern Mutual in 2021.
  • Prior Experience? Former professional swimmer who proudly represented the United States at the highest levels, including the Olympics. Also held roles in business development prior to joining Northwestern Mutual.
  • Passionate About? Giving back to the community, mentoring young athletes, staying active, and making a positive impact through local philanthropic efforts.

 

About the Financial Representative Role:

As a Financial Representative at Northwestern Mutual, you will be part of a team that helps individuals and businesses achieve their financial goals through personalized insurance solutions and financial planning. Your role involves building long-term relationships with clients, understanding their unique needs, and providing tailored financial solutions.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Consultation: Engage with clients to understand their financial goals, aspirations, and concerns.
  • Financial Planning: Develop comprehensive financial plans that include investments, insurance, and retirement.
  • Insurance Solutions: Recommend and implement insurance strategies to protect clients' assets and income.
  • Ongoing Support: Monitor clients' financial plans and provide regular updates, adjusting strategies as needed to meet changing circumstances.
  • Networking: Build and maintain a network of clients through referrals, community involvement, and professional associations.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education: A bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience in financial services, insurance or business development is beneficial but not required.
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to build trust and rapport with clients.
  • Licenses: Obtain necessary licenses, such as Series 6, 63, and state insurance licenses (training and sponsorship available).
